Whos cooking?

Hello there and welcome to mangia!

Growing up in a big Italian family, most of my fondest memories revolve around food and mealtime.  Almost every Sunday, our whole family would pack into the small kitchen of my grandparents’ house and enjoy endless dishes of Italian favorites – and mangia!, (roughly translating to ‘eat eat!’ in Italian) was often the cue to dive in.  As a result of my upbringing and experiences cooking in my own kitchen, I have come to appreciate seeking out whole and natural foods, the process of cooking them and, most importantly, the opportunity to share and enjoy it all with family and friends.

This blog is an effort to share my own cooking adventures in the kitchen.  While I remain close to my Italian roots (I make a mean pizza!), my approach to cooking has evolved to one based on whole and real foods ( ie not-processed) and mostly plant-based.  I love seeking out new recipes and inspirations, trying new techniques, and experimenting with varied and seasonal ingredients.  Because I believe its important to enjoy the food we eat (it needs to taste good!), while also being mindful of what we are putting into our bodies and where it comes from (we have to take care of our health!), this approach to cooking and eating has allowed room for both.

Enjoy and mangia!
